Occupational Therepy

Occupational Therapy (OT) is a holistic profession that helps people across the lifespan participate in activities that they want and need to, through the therapeutic use of everyday tasks, also known as “occupations”.  We use these occupations as both the intervention and outcome of therapy.

Pediatric Occupational Therapist means we are providing intervention by engaging children in their primary childhood occupation, which is playing! However, pediatric occupational therapists don’t “just” play. What makes us unique, is that we use playing as a medium to provide individualized therapeutic intervention to help kids improve their performance in their daily occupations such as eating, sleeping, self-care, play-skills, and learning by addressing underlying difficulties like fine motor, problem-solving, attention, and sensory processing skills.

We also take into account the effect of a task’s difficulty on the child’s performance, as well as the role of the physical and social environment. Our goal is to help every child succeed and achieve their goals by creating scientific and evidence-based therapeutic intervention plans. We modify and analyze each activity specific to each child’s functional potential. We love what we do and are passionate about having a positive impact on the lives of children, their families, and their communities.
